The heart of Flinders Truffles

Flinders Truffles began with a parcel of land and a shared curiosity. Nestled in the rolling hills of Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, our family farm produces some of the world’s most prized black truffles and has become a destination for slow food, shared moments and simple pleasures.

Following the Fascination

Owned and operated by the Groves family, Flinders Truffles was established in 2017.

Jane and Tony Groves immersed themselves in the world of truffles, enthralled by adventure and drawn to the land that nurtures them. What was once grazing pasture is now home to rows of hand planted French oak trees, rich soil and the seasonal rhythms of farm life. Years of planning, cultivating and harvesting have taken them from small growers to premium truffle producers, with people, nature and their beloved truffle dogs all playing their part.

Lucy and Enzo Lead the Way

The real stars of truffle season are Lucy and Enzo, the farm’s Lagotto Romagnolo truffle dogs. Highly trained, intuitive and endlessly enthusiastic, they lead the search beneath the soil. Lucy is the seasoned professional with a nose for perfection, while Enzo brings playful energy and sharp instincts. Together, they locate perfectly ripe truffles at just the right depth, something humans simply cannot replicate.

Open Gates, Shared Stories

While truffles remain at the heart of the farm, the experience has always been something to share.

For three months each winter, the gates open for truffle hunts, farmgate visits and seasonal gatherings. Guests walk the orchard rows, meet the dogs and discover the sensory richness of life on the farm.

WHERE SOIL AND SEASON PLAY

Truffle farming is a delicate partnership between soil, tree and truffle. Beneath the orchard floor, roots intertwine with spores in the symbiosis that allows these rare delicacies to form.

Rich dark clay loam, restored after years of grazing livestock, provides ideal growing conditions, while hand pruned trees and balanced canopy sustain soil vitality and exceptional harvests.

FROM FARM TO TABLE

Treasured in European kitchens for centuries, black truffles are prized for their aroma, earthy flavour and rich, savoury depth.

At Flinders Truffles, each harvest finds its way to chefs, restaurant teams and passionate food lovers eager to celebrate the season. From Peninsula kitchens to international markets, these premium truffles bring presence to every plate.

Hands On Harvest

For three months each winter, the orchard comes alive with the search for ripe truffles. Guided by the dogs and carefully unearthed by hand, each one is selected for aroma, firmness and freshness before making its way to kitchens and tables.

Worth Waiting For

Black truffles develop slowly beneath the surface and are available for only a short time each year. That rarity is part of their allure, making every harvest something truly worth savouring.

Always Evolving

Reinoculation, pruning and attentive orchard care ensure the farm continues to flourish. Beneath the oak trees, the next season’s hidden treasures are already forming.
